Today, the world honours the noble work of the humanitarian community and the memory of those who gave their lives while performing humanitarian missions.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine congratulates the employees of international organizations, non-governmental partners, volunteers and everyone who selflessly works today in Ukraine in difficult and dangerous conditions, under fire and in the hottest points of the front, for the sake of helping millions of Ukrainians in the conditions of Russia's barbaric aggression.

In February 2022, Russia created in Ukraine the biggest humanitarian crisis in Europe since the Second World War. Today, millions of Ukrainians are in need of humanitarian aid. More than 14 million citizens of Ukraine were forced to relocate within Ukraine or abroad, escaping from the horrors of the war unleashed by the Russian aggressor. Tens of thousands of civilians were killed and maimed. Hundreds of cities and towns were completely destroyed.

Every day, Russia commits missile terror against the civilian population and civilian infrastructure, trying to create unbearable conditions for life to break the spirit and resistance of Ukrainians who defend their home, their land, and their state.

The aggressor continues to commit war crimes against the civilian population, including the blowing up of the Kakhovska dam, whose catastrophic consequences will affect the agriculture, water supply and ecology of the region for a long time to come.

We call on the international community to continue increasing pressure on the Russian Federation in order to obtain humanitarian access to Ukrainians who are forced to remain in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, the immediate return of deported Ukrainian children, and an end to military aggression.

We are convinced that through joint efforts, we will be able to defeat the aggressor, achieve victory and restore the supremacy of international law.
