Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba held his first personal talks with Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom Liz Truss during the NATO North Atlantic Council meeting in Riga.
The foreign ministers discussed in detail the security situation in the occupied territories and along the state border of Ukraine, exchanged views on important areas of cooperation between Ukraine and the UK in existing and new formats to strengthen security in the wider Black Sea region.
Secretary of State Liz Truss assured Dmytro Kuleba of the United Kingdom's readiness to take concrete action to support Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, to provide practical assistance in strengthening our country's defence capabilities and economic stability.
The foreign ministers agreed a number of concrete steps in the framework of a comprehensive package of deterring Russia from a new wave of aggression against Ukraine. Liz Truss assured of Great Britain’s readiness to mobilize support of allies together with Ukraine against the background of Russia's aggressive actions.
The Minister welcomed the position of his British counterpart on the need for joint efforts of the European countries to prevent launching of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline. He suggested starting cooperation between Ukraine and the United Kingdom to diversify the supply of energy resources in the short and medium term.
Dmytro Kuleba and Liz Truss also discussed the development of trade and attracting British investment for the development of Ukraine's economy and unleashing all the potential of the free trade zone between the two countries.
