On February 28, 2025, Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh received Ambassador of Egypt to Ukraine Barakat Elleity.
The parties discussed ways to intensify the Ukrainian Egyptian political dialogue and to further revitalize trade and economic relations in the context of the implementation of the agreements reached during the official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha to Egypt last October.
Both diplomats noted the dynamic development of trade and economic cooperation between the two states. Due to joint efforts, trade turnover between Ukraine and the Arab Republic of Egypt exceeded 1 billion 800 million US dollars in 2024. For his part, Ambassador Elleity emphasized the important role of Ukraine in the context of ensuring Egypt's food security. In particular, he positively assessed the results of the recent visit to Cairo of the Ukrainian delegation headed by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Vitalii Koval.
On the top of that, the Special Representative expressed his gratitude to the Egyptian side for supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within the framework of UN in particular during the vote of the resolution “Advancing a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine” on February 24, 2025.
In conclusion, Maksym Subkh congratulated Barakat Elleity on the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.
