On December 16, 2024 in accordance with the mandate of the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha, as well as in the context of the implementation of the agreements reached during the meeting of the Ukrainian and Algerian Foreign Ministers during the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, the Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subh held the second round of political consultations with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria Lounes Magramane.

The Algerian side was informed about the negative global consequences of full-scale Russian armed aggression against Ukraine, in particular, in the context of ensuring food security in Africa.

Maksym Subh informed the Algerian side about international efforts to achieve a comprehensive, fair and sustainable peace in our country based on the Ukrainian Peace Formula. In this context, the Algerian side was invited to join the final communique of the First Peace Summit and to participate in the next Global Peace Summit at the level of the Algerian Head of State.

The Ukrainian side expressed the hope that Algeria will continue the policy of protection of the Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity by supporting pro-Ukrainian UN resolutions. It was emphasized that the ongoing aggression of the Russian Federation in Ukraine also has a significant negative impact on the security situation not only in Europe, but also on other continents, including Africa, in particular, due to the activities of the Russian private military company "Wagner" and "African Corps" in neighboring with Algeria Mali and Niger.

The interlocutors also discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation, noting the positive dynamics of the gradual recovery of trade between the two states, and exchanged views on issues of common interest in the fields of agriculture, industry, energy, education, information technology, and military-technical cooperation. An agreement to maintain a high-level political dialogue was reached.

On the top of that, the Special Representative of Ukraine conveyed to the Algerian side a written message from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha to his Algerian counterpart Ahmed Attaf, which contains, inter alia, an invitation to pay an official visit to Ukraine.
