On June 20, Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh paid a working visit to Warsaw.
During the visit, Maksym Subkh met with ambassadors and senior diplomats of the embassies of Algeria, Angola, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tunisia, and Yemen, accredited in the Republic of Poland. Some of the heads of diplomatic missions are also non-resident ambassadors of their respective countries to Ukraine.
The participants of the meeting discussed the Ukrainian Peace Formula of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in detail. In the context of the exchange of views on the peace initiative recently presented by some African leaders, Maksym Subkh emphasized that the Ukrainian Peace Formula is the only effective tool for ensuring global security in all its dimensions, as well as the most effective mechanism capable of stopping the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine. The Ukrainian diplomat once again invited the African countries to express their support for the Ukrainian Peace Formula and to participate in its implementation.
Another key topic of discussion was the state of implementation of the humanitarian initiative "Grain from Ukraine" aimed at ensuring global food security, including in the countries of the African continent. The sides discussed the destructive influence of the Russian Federation in Africa, in particular in the context of Russia's activities aimed at destabilizing this region through the presence of the "Wagner" PMC in certain African countries, as well as the aggressive policy of the Russian Federation to spread disinformation and anti-Ukrainian propaganda on the African continent.
Special Representative Maksym Subkh also met with the Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, Pawel Jablonski in order to discuss the prospects of deepening cooperation in Africa. The parties exchanged views on the current political, security, and humanitarian situation on the African continent, in particular in connection with the food crisis caused by Russia’s blockade of Ukrainian seaports. They discussed ways of cooperation between Ukraine and Poland to stabilize the situation with food on the continent, as well as counter Russian propaganda in African countries. The sides agreed to continue coordinating actions on the African track to consolidate the positions of African countries and their support for Ukrainian initiatives and resolutions, including within the framework of the UN and other international organizations.
On June 21, Maksym Subkh held meetings with some representatives of the political forces of African countries who participated in an international conference in Gdansk. They touched upon cooperation between Ukraine and African countries in the context of strengthening international security, peace, and international law. The Ukrainian diplomat has informed his counterparts about the ongoing Russian aggression and its negative consequences, in particular for Africa. He called upon all political forces to make more efforts to stop the war on the fair terms envisaged by the Ukrainian Peace Formula.
