On August 26, the Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh held a meeting with Ambassador of Egypt to Ukraine Ayman Elgammal.

The parties discussed ways to intensify the Ukrainian-Egyptian political dialogue and the schedule of bilateral contacts for the near future.

Maksym Subkh emphasized Ukraine's interest in the rapid rejuvenation of trade and economic cooperation between the two states. It was noted that due to joint efforts, trade turnover between Ukraine and the Arab Republic of Egypt exceeded one billion US dollars in the first half of 2024.

For his part, Ambassador Elgammal emphasized the important role of Ukraine in the context of ensuring Egypt's food security.

The Egyptian diplomat reiterated official Cairo's unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine as well as Egypt's rejection of any changes in the status of Ukrainian territories, in particular, the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.

The Special Representative provided detailed explanations regarding the development of the security situation in Ukraine with an emphasis on the criminal actions of the Russian Federation against the civilian population of our country and the daily destruction of civilian and critical infrastructure facilities.

He also thanked Egypt for supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within the framework of international organizations and invited the Egyptian side to join Ukrainian initiatives such as the Peace Formula, Grain from Ukraine, the Crimea Platform, and the Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen. The Ukrainian diplomat expressed hope for the participation of Egypt's leadership in the Second Global Peace Summit.
