On May 14, 2025 Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh held a meeting with Czech Governmental Envoy for the Reconstruction of Ukraine Tomáš Kopečný who is currently on a visit to Ukraine as the head of the Czech Republic’s government delegation.

Maksym Subkh expressed his gratitude to the Czech partners for their all-encompassing  assistance provided in cooperation with other European states amid opposition to the full-scale Russian aggression, as well as for their support of Ukraine's foreign policy initiatives.

The parties exchanged views on the ongoing political transformations in the African countries belonging to the Maghreb, Sahel and Sub-Saharan regions. Special attention was paid to Russia’s destructive influence aimed at destabilizing security situation in certain parts of the continent. In this context, both sides emphasized the need to increase cooperation in promoting public diplomacy instruments to combat Russian disinformation and propaganda, which are actively spread by certain African countries, thus representing undisguised elements of hybrid war against Ukraine.

The parties also shared their experience of cooperation with African countries in the spheres of trade, science and technology, while discussing prospects for collaboration in the fields of agriculture, healthcare and education and identifying possible areas of interaction and mutual support in relations with Africa.

In addition, the Ukrainian and Czech delegations discussed the issue of participation and possible role of African leaders in bringing closer just and sustainable peace in Ukraine, as well as the prospects for further expansion of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s  “Grain from Ukraine” initiative in Africa.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue the practice of holding consultations on cooperation issues in the African region.
