On 19th of June, Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh received Ambassador of Palestine to Ukraine Hashem Hasan Dajani at the latter's request.
The Palestinian Ambassador expressed his gratitude to the Ukrainian side for supporting the UN General Assembly resolution “Protection of civilians and upholding legal and humanitarian obligations”, which was adopted in New York on June 12, 2025, during the Tenth Emergency Special Session on “Illegal Israeli actions in occupied East Jerusalem and the rest of the Occupied Palestinian Territory”. The Palestinian diplomat stressed that by doing so, Ukraine had reaffirmed its commitment to the UN Charter and international law.
Maksym Subkh conveyed his deep concern over the increasingly deteriorating situation in the Gaza Strip, in particular, the growing number of dead and injured among the civilians. He noted that in order to alleviate the suffering of the population of the Gaza Strip, Ukraine provided humanitarian aid to Palestine in 2024 as part of the ‘Grain from Ukraine’ initiative launched by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The parties agreed that the implementation of the two-state solution for Israel and Palestine, that will allow them to coexist in peace and security, is the only way to achieve comprehensive and lasting peace as well as stability in the Middle East.
At the same time, Maksym Subkh expressed his hope that the Palestinian side would be more active in supporting Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as our country's efforts in countering Russia's large-scale armed aggression.
