On September 26, 2023, Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh had a telephone call with Minister, Diplomatic Adviser to the President of Senegal, Sonar Ngom.

The Ukrainian diplomat thanked President of Senegal Macy Sall for his participation in the African Peace Initiative and his visit to Ukraine in June as part of a group of leaders of several African countries. He invited the Senegalese side to participate in the implementation of the Peace Formula of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Maksym Subkh also informed about Russia’s recent attacks on the civil and industrial infrastructure of Ukraine, including the one on the Black Sea coast. He emphasized the importance of Senegal, as one of the regional leaders of West Africa, calling upon Russia to immediately unblock the export of Ukrainian cereals through the Black Sea Grain Corridor, which is crucial for international food security, primarily in Africa.

During the conversation, the sides discussed specific issues of intensifying Ukrainian-Senegalese cooperation in various fields.
