On April 13, Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Dr. Maksym Subkh held online consultations with US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Ms. Molly Phee.
During the negotiations, the parties discussed a wide range of pressing issues related to using the accumulated practical experience of working with the states of Africa in bilateral and multilateral formats to deepen cooperation with the African continent.
Maksym Subkh briefed the American partners on measures taken to strengthen Ukrainian diplomacy on the African track, achievements, and further plans for fostering Ukraine’s national interests.
The sides exchanged views on points of convergence between Ukraine and the USA to further develop cooperation between the two states in Africa, in particular in the context of countering Russian aggression. The representatives of the foreign ministries discussed the influence of non-regional actors on the political positions of African states on issues of particular importance to the Ukrainian side.
The Special Representative expressed gratitude to the American partners for their constant support of our state, protection of its sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for a significant contribution to the implementation of the humanitarian initiative Grain from Ukraine and assistance in the promotion of the Ukrainian Peace Formula.
Molly Phee noted the openness of the United States to exchanging experiences with Ukraine to overcome the challenges that arise in relations with the African states, and also emphasized the readiness to further expand interstate dialogue, including on issues of global food security.
The parties agreed to continue the initiated bilateral dialogue and coordination of efforts on the African track.
