On 10 June, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Mariana Betsa held political consultations in Kyiv with Deputy Foreign Ministers and senior officials of the Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8) countries - Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, and Sweden.

During the consultations, the parties focused on coordinating efforts within the United Nations, the Council of Europe, the OSCE, and other multilateral frameworks. The participants discussed joint efforts aimed at advancing Ukrainian initiatives, strengthening international support for Ukraine, and upholding the principles of the UN Charter and international law.

“We are sincerely grateful to the NB8 countries for their consistent support for Ukraine in the international arena amid Russia’s ongoing aggression. The Nordic-Baltic states remain among Ukraine’s closest partners, both bilaterally and within international organizations,” Mariana Betsa emphasized.

The delegations devoted particular attention to addressing the humanitarian consequences of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, the situation in the temporarily occupied territories, and further efforts to ensure an appropriate international response to the challenges caused by Russia’s ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine.

The participants welcomed the outcomes of the Ukraine - Nordic-Baltic Summit held in Tallinn the previous day, as well as the agreements reached on further strengthening support for Ukraine, enhancing its defence capabilities, and advancing efforts aimed at ensuring Russia’s accountability

Representatives of the Nordic-Baltic countries reaffirmed their unwavering support for Ukraine, its sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders, and stressed the importance of preserving the unity of the international community in countering Russia’s armed aggression.

The parties agreed to continue their active engagement at both bilateral and multilateral levels to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace for Ukraine in line with the UN Charter and international law.
