On November 21, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mariana Betsa held a metting with Maciej Janczak, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine.
Mariana Betsa commended the effective work of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine, particularly in the implementation of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine “Resilience. Recovery. Reconstruction” for 2023-2026 and in facilitating the functioning of the mechanisms for the reparation of damages inflicted by the aggressor state on the victims of the war.
During the meeting, the current state and prospects for the Action Plan's implementation were discussed, with an emphasis on the urgent needs of Ukrainian society and the Government's priorities.
"Thanks to the expert support of the Council of Europe and donors, several important projects are already being implemented. These projects are aimed at Ukraine’s reconstruction, strengthening the capacity of state institutions, promoting democratic governance, upholding the rule of law, and protecting citizens' rights", emphasized Mariana Betsa.
The Deputy Minister highlighted the leading role of the Council of Europe in ensuring Russia’s accountability for its crimes.
The interlocutors also exchanged views on the functioning of the International Register of Damage Caused by the Aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. The representation of the International Register started its activities in Kyiv in March 2024.
