Mariana Betsa held a meeting with UNIDO Deputy to the Director General Yuko Yasunaga

On October 27, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Mariana Betsa held a meeting with Deputy to the Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Yuko Yasunaga, who is on a working visit to Ukraine.

Mariana Betsa expressed appreciation for the practical assistance provided by UNIDO to Ukraine in overcoming the negative consequences of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation and emphasized the interest of the Ukrainian Side in further development of the cooperation.

"Thank you for your support and the efforts of the UNIDO team to implement a number of important initiatives in Ukraine. We especially appreciate the projects aimed at strengthening Ukraine's industrial potential, humanitarian demining, as well as creating new jobs and supporting our heroes - Ukrainian veterans. We are convinced that the launch of a full-fledged UNIDO project office in Ukraine will only contribute to the further expansion of our cooperation," emphasized Mariana Betsa.

UNIDO remains an important partner of Ukraine in the context of green industrial recovery, with a project targeting USD 188 million in funding, implemented with the support of the Government of Japan. The organization is also facilitating the implementation of 12 other projects in Ukraine, including initiatives of incorporation of 3D printing technologies of prosthetics, decarbonization of industry, and optimization of power grid management in the industrial sector.

Yuko Yasunaga, in his turn, thanked the Government of Ukraine for the high level of cooperation and confirmed UNIDO's readiness to further strengthen its activities in our country, in particular in the context of mobilizing additional resources.

"We highly value our steadfast partnership with the Government of Ukraine. With support from Japan, UNIDO is scaling up its work to accelerate green industrial recovery through technology transfer and the co-creation of new businesses. We stand ready to further strengthen our presence in Ukraine, including through a Programme Office and to mobilize jointly additional resources for job creation and sustainable growth," said Yuko Yasunaga.
