On December 8, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Mariana Betsa met with the Deputy Political Director and Managing Director for Multilateral Relations, Human Rights and Democracy of the European External Action Service, Martin Bille Hermann, who is visiting Ukraine on a working trip.
During the meeting, the parties discussed ways to deepen cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union within multilateral fora, particularly the UN system. Mariana Betsa highlighted the high level of interaction with EU institutions and expressed gratitude for the EU’s consistent support of Ukrainian initiatives aimed at achieving a just, sustainable and comprehensive peace, ensuring the return of Ukrainian children deported by Russia, and securing accountability of the Russian Federation for crimes committed against the Ukrainian people.
“We appreciate the European Union’s continued support. We are grateful for the adoption of 19 packages of sanctions against the aggressor state. We must continue to act jointly, decisively and in a coordinated manner to ensure that Russia is held fully accountable and that the operational European security architecture is restored,” the Deputy Minister emphasized.
The parties also paid special attention to further coordination across various international platforms, including the promotion of Ukrainian draft resolutions in the UN General Assembly, which are expected to be considered in the near future.
