On 26 January, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mariana Betsa received Her Excellency Natalka Tsmots, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Ukraine.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a broad range of issues within the framework of the special partnership between Ukraine and Canada, including cooperation within the Group of Seven, security and defence assistance to Ukraine, energy support, humanitarian response, assistance to Ukrainian veterans, as well as coordination in the United Nations and other international organizations.
Particular attention was given to cooperation between Ukraine and Canada as co-chairing countries of the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children illegally deported by the Russian Federation.
Mariana Betsa expressed sincere gratitude to the Government and people of Canada for their consistent and substantial support to Ukraine, including the CAD 2.5 billion financial aid package announced at the end of 2025, as well as Canada’s significant contribution to the Ukrainian Energy Development Fund and the strengthening of Ukraine’s defence capabilities.
The parties agreed to continue an active bilateral political dialogue and to further strengthen coordination within international organizations.
