On November 7, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Mariana Betsa held a meeting with the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Ukraine Matthias Schmale.
Maryana Betsa highlighted the vital role that the United Nations and its affiliated organizations are playing in Ukraine in overcoming the negative consequences of Russia's war against Ukraine. She also emphasized the importance of maintaining close coordination between the UN, the Government of Ukraine, and local governance entities to effectively and promptly respond to the urgent needs of the affected regions.
Deputy Minister also paid special attention to the humanitarian situation in the frontline areas of our country and the preparation of the regions for the winter period. “Due to the constant attacks of the aggressor on civilian and critical infrastructure objects, a rapid deterioration of the situation is recorded in many regions of Ukraine which requires an urgent response of the entire UN system in Ukraine” mentioned Mariana Betsa.
In his turn Matthias Schmale informed about the assistance currently provided by the UN to overcome the negative consequences of aggression and assured of the readiness of the entire UN team in Ukraine to do everything possible to overpass the current humanitarian challenges, unfortunately, faced by millions of Ukrainians.
