On March 30, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mariana Betsa held a meeting with Ivana Zivkovic, Director of the Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), who is on a working visit to Ukraine.
Mariana Betsa expressed her gratitude to UNDP for its continued assistance and support in Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction, as well as for its contribution to strengthening the institutional capacity of the state amid ongoing Russian aggression.
“The volume of assistance provided by the Programme towards Ukraine’s recovery and development since the beginning of the Russian Federation’s full-scale invasion, amounting to over USD 1 billion, is a clear testament to the effectiveness of your work and the confidence of partners. We particularly appreciate UNDP’s contribution to enhancing Ukraine’s energy resilience, the rehabilitation and reintegration of Ukrainian veterans, as well as its efforts in humanitarian demining,” – Mariana Betsa emphasized.
The parties held a detailed discussion on further cooperation in restoring Ukraine’s energy generation capacities, including in preparation for the upcoming autumn-winter period. They also agreed on next steps within joint efforts aimed at ensuring sufficient donor financing for UNDP’s operational activities in Ukraine.
For her part, Ivana Zivkovic commended the effective partnership with the Government of Ukraine and reaffirmed UNDP’s readiness to further scale up its activities in the country.
