The first round of Ukrainian-Liberian political consultations co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (CDTO) Dmytro Senik and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Liberia Deweh Gray, was held virtually on 15 December.
The Parties discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest, including the intensification of political dialogue, cooperation in trade, agriculture and education areas, as well as the interaction within international organizations.
The diplomats noted the importance of the first-ever in the history of the bilateral relations meeting between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President of Liberia George Weah, held on November, 2 on the sidelines of the UN Climate Forum COP26 in Glasgow.
Based on the results of consultations, Dmytro Senik and Deweh Gray signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Liberia.
For reference: Diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Liberia were established on September 24, 1998. In January-September 2021, the total volume of trade in goods and services between Ukraine and Liberia amounted to 16,13 USD million (consisted mainly of Ukrainian export).
