The Ukrainian border will be temporarily closed to foreign nationals and stateless persons seeking to enter from 28 August to 28 September. The restrictions have been made for the broadest possible list of traveler categories, in order to mitigate the impact on people-to- people and business contacts.

MFA of Ukraine advises that all questions regarding the crossing of the state border of Ukraine are directed at the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

Can I cross the border if I have a residence permit in Ukraine?

Yes, you can. The restriction does not refer to foreign nationals who have permanent or temporary residence permit in Ukraine.

I am a citizen of Ukraine and I am going to marry an Austrian citizen, is he permitted to enter Ukraine?

Unfortunately, during the temporary restrictions (from 28.08.2020 to 28.09.2020) your fiancé will not be able to enter Ukraine. Only a certain category of foreigners is allowed to cross the border providing relevant documents.

My husband is a Lithuanian national and right now he is in Lithuania, but he is going to arrive in Ukraine these days. Will he be able to cross the border?

Yes, he will be able to enter Ukraine. The restrictions imposed by the Government do not apply to certain categories of foreigners, including spouses of Ukrainian citizens, parents, grandparents or children of a citizen of Ukraine. It is obligatory to present a marriage certificate during customs control.

The Ukrainian enterprise would like to invite its foreign partners to Ukraine to introduce new equipment. Will foreigners be able to enter Ukraine?

Yes. Restrictive measures do not apply to foreigners who are technical specialists arriving in Ukraine at the invitation of Ukrainian enterprises representatives.

How a foreign student can enter Ukraine for study?

Entry of foreigners who arrive in Ukraine with a purpose of study at the Higher Educational Institutions is not prohibited. At the same time, it is mandatory for a person to have an invitation from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, long-term student visa (D Visa) or a temporary residence permit in Ukraine.

Does my underage daughter, who is a foreign national, have the right to cross the border with her parents if they are Ukrainian citizens? What documents should be provided at the border?

During the period from 28.08.2020 to 28.09.2020 entry of foreigners who are parents or children of a citizen of Ukraine is not prohibited. When crossing the border it is necessary to have a supporting document - a birth certificate.

Are relatives of Ukrainian citizens allowed to enter Ukraine?

Certain categories of foreign nationals including the spouses, children, parents and grandparents of Ukrainian citizens are also allowed to enter Ukraine.

Will I be allowed to enter Ukraine if I travel in transit to Moldova?

No. Entry of foreigners traveling through the territory of Ukraine in transit is prohibited.
