The MFA of Ukraine, in collaboration with the Centre for Strategic Communications, is organizing the Kyiv Stratcom Forum 2026
22 April 2026 14:18

On Wednesday, April 22, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha held a meeting with Igor Soloviev and the team from the Centre for Strategic Communications.

The Centre has been working in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to counter Russian disinformation and promote Ukrainian narratives since 2025.

“Last year, we saw a sharp increase in Russian budgets for disinformation, hybrid warfare, and manipulation. We immediately realized that such enemy plans require organized countermeasures. That is why we launched a partnership that strengthens Ukraine in the information sphere, prioritizing the Centre’s foreign-focused activities”, Andrii Sybiha noted.

During this time, effective cooperation has been established with the Ministry and foreign diplomatic missions: regular monitoring of the Ukrainian and foreign information space, trends in Russian disinformation, promotion of information campaigns, exposure of Russian information operations, and support for allied countries and their respective Centres in countering Russian hybrid influence.

This May, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also joining the Centre for Strategic Communications in organizing the annual Kyiv Forum on Strategic Communications, the Kyiv Stratcom Forum. It will be a major event attended by leading Ukrainian and foreign experts. The forum will facilitate the continued development of capabilities, the exchange of experience, and the consolidation of Ukraine’s unique role and expertise in countering disinformation.

Representatives of the Centre participate in international events dedicated to combating disinformation. Just in the past few weeks, Centre representative Mykola Balaban, with the assistance of Ukrainian diplomats, toured European countries, participated in working-level interactions with NATO, and spoke online at an important conference in Argentina, after which the Ukrainian side received positive feedback from participants in the Latin American audience.

“I’ll be honest, when I recently visited Latin America, I saw a disheartening picture: Ukraine’s information presence is minimal, while the dominance of Russian narratives is colossal. Instead of an information presence, there is an information vacuum. This needs to change. We are working with the Centre’s team to organize a Latin American tour for our experts in countering disinformation. Such work is needed not only in Latin America, but also in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and, frankly speaking, Europe and North America. We will work on this together with the Centre”, the Foreign Minister noted.

Last week, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the MFA and the Centre for Strategic Communications to ensure a systematic approach to this work.
