The 3rd round of Ukrainian-Thai political consultations chaired by Dmytro Ponomarenko, Director of the Fourth Territorial Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, and Asi Mamani, Director General of the European Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, took place online on February 3.
The Thai delegation reaffirmed its support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The parties welcomed the growth of trade between the two countries and stressed the importance of further development of trade and economic relations. The interlocutors stressed the importance of holding a meeting of the Joint Trade Commission in 2022 and implementing the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Council of Exporters and Investors under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Trade Council of Thailand, concluded on December 16, 2021.
Dmytro Ponomarenko thanked the Thai side for its support in granting the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine observer status in the ASEAN Interparliamentary Assembly during the 42nd session of the General Assembly of the Association in August 2021. The diplomats discussed security issues in the Black and Azov Seas, as well as the further work of the Crimean Platform.
In order to properly commemorate May 6, the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Thailand, the interlocutors exchanged proposals for measures to mark this significant date. In particular, they talked about the intention to introduce a Ukrainian-language audio guide in May 2022 in one of the state museums in Thailand.
The parties agreed to hold the next round of consultations of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs in the Kingdom of Thailand in the second half of 2023.
