The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba had a telephone conversation with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Guatemala Mario Adolfo Bucaro Flores. "Ukraine and Guatemala are united by strong political ties. We highly appreciate Guatemala's support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state, and active cooperation within international organizations. It is time to open a new page of our bilateral relations to lift to a new level our cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, tourism and education," said the Head of Ukrainian diplomacy.
Dmytro Kuleba thanked Mario Bucaros for his initiative to hold a personal telephone conversation on the second day after his appointment as Guatemalan Foreign Minister with the purpose of showing solidarity with Ukraine against the backdrop of the Russian Federation's aggressive actions.
The Minister informed in detail his Guatemalan counterpart about the security situation near the state border of Ukraine, the efforts of our state and its partners to de-escalate tensions and keep Russia within a constructive diplomatic dialogue.
In this context, the interlocutors discussed steps to strengthen further support for Ukraine in the Latin American region.
Dmytro Kuleba and Mario Bucaro paid special attention to increasing trade turnover between Ukraine and Guatemala.
Finally, the ministers exchanged invitations to pay reciprocal visits at convenient time.
