Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mariana Betsa held phone talks with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala Mónica Bolaños.
The interlocutors discussed current issues of bilateral relations, cooperation within international organizations, particularly the United Nations, as well as support for Ukraine’s efforts to restore a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace in the face of Russia’s ongoing aggression. Mariana Betsa thanked Guatemala for its consistent support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The diplomats also focused on the humanitarian consequences of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. One of the key topics of the conversation was Russia’s illegal deportation of Ukrainian children. Mariana Betsa invited the Guatemalan side to join the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children.
The parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening bilateral cooperation, as evidenced, in particular, by the ongoing preparations for the opening of the Embassy of Ukraine in Guatemala.
