During the second day of his visit to Turkmenistan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Olexandr Mischenko, together with the Special Representative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine for Central Asia and Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Kazakhstan Viktor Maiko, continued a series of meetings and negotiations focused on advancing Ukraine’s economic interests, strengthening bilateral infrastructure cooperation, and engaging international partners in Ukraine’s recovery.
During meetings with the Mayor of Ashgabat, Rahym Gandimov, and the Minister of Construction and Architecture of Turkmenistan, Abdulla Geldiyev, particular attention was paid to the prospects for the participation of Ukrainian companies in infrastructure and construction projects, the development of cooperation in urban planning, and the implementation of modern engineering solutions.
Olexandr Mischenko also informed the Turkmen side about Ukraine’s current needs in rebuilding infrastructure destroyed by Russia’s aggression and emphasized the significant potential for Turkmen businesses to participate in Ukraine’s future reconstruction projects. He also underscored the importance of further cooperation within the framework of the sister-city partnership programme between Kyiv and Ashgabat.
Special attention was devoted to the activities of Ukrainian businesses in Turkmenistan. During a visit to the facilities of the Ukrainian company Interbudmontazh, Olexandr Mischenko familiarized himself with the implementation of two major infrastructure projects: the construction of a drainage collector in Ashgabat and a regulating hydraulic structure on the Karakum Canal.
The parties noted the significant contribution of Ukrainian specialists to the development of Turkmenistan’s engineering infrastructure, strengthening environmental security, and ensuring a stable water supply for the capital of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat.
During a meeting with representatives of Ukrainian businesses, the participants discussed current challenges, prospects for implementing new projects, and further expanding trade and economic cooperation. Olexandr Mischenko reaffirmed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine’s commitment to continuing its support for Ukrainian businesses in foreign markets and to promoting Ukraine’s economic presence in Central Asia.
At the Magtymguly Pyragy Cultural and Park Complex, Olexandr Mischenko, together with the Special Representative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine for Central Asia Viktor Maiko and Chargé d’Affaires of Ukraine in Turkmenistan Oleksandr Sirenko, laid flowers at the monument to Hryhorii Skovoroda.
The participants emphasized the symbolic significance of the presence of the prominent Ukrainian philosopher among the outstanding figures of world culture, describing it as a testament to respect for Ukraine’s spiritual heritage and the importance of preserving humanitarian ties between the peoples of Ukraine and Turkmenistan.
