On January 27, 2025 Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Olexandr Mischenko held a meeting with the Ambassador of Montenegro to Ukraine Borjanka Simićević.

Olexandr Mischenko welcomed Montenegro's participation in the recent Ukraine-Southeast Europe Ministerial Meeting in Kyiv and its joining the Joint Communiqué in support of Ukraine. 

The Sides noted the positive dynamics of the political dialogue between the two countries, in particular the readiness to sign the Treaty on Friendship and Cooperation between Ukraine and Montenegro in the near future, which will confirm the firm mutual intentions to continue cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The Deputy Minister invited Montenegro's top leadership to visit Ukraine, inter alia, to sign a number of important bilateral documents.

Olexandr Mischenko noted Montenegro's progress on European integration, including the recent closure of three negotiating clusters for EU accession.

Ambassador Borjanka Simićević assured of her country's readiness to continue providing comprehensive assistance to Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression and confirmed its intention to promote further development of friendly relations between Kyiv and Podgorica.
