On March 31, a meeting took place between the delegations of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Greece, headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Olexandr Mischenko and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic Tasos Chatzivasileiou.
The parties discussed current issues on the agenda of Ukrainian-Greek relations, priority areas of cooperation, and the schedule of high-level contacts in 2025.
Olexandr Mischenko expressed gratitude to Greece for providing Ukraine with defense and humanitarian assistance in its fight against Russian aggression. He stressed the need for effective security guarantees for Ukraine and the fact that our country has no alternative to its course of integration into the EU and NATO.
Tasos Chatzivasileiou confirmed that Ukraine can count on Greece’s continued support in its fight to restore its territorial integrity and on its path to the EU and NATO membership. He also assured of Greece's readiness to continue providing comprehensive assistance.
The interlocutors also focused on deepening bilateral economic cooperation and Greece’s involvement in Ukraine’s reconstruction.
Another topic of the meeting was the strengthening of sanctions against Russia. The parties confirmed their common position on the need to maintain and increase pressure on the aggressor.
Olexandr Mischenko also informed his Greek counterpart about Ukraine’s steps toward a just peace and the outcomes of the negotiations in Saudi Arabia.
The meeting was also attended by the Special Representative of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Ukraine Spyridon Lambridis.
