On 26 August, Olexandr Mischenko, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, held a meeting with Pavel Fischer, Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.

Olexandr Mischenko expressed his gratitude to the Czech side for the political and practical support our country has received from the Czech Parliament since the start of the Russian Federation’s full-scale armed aggression against Ukraine. In this context, the 12 resolutions adopted by the Senate in support of our country since 2022 were noted positively, as were Pavel Fischer’s personal efforts to strengthen Ukrainian-Czech relations.

It was noted that Ukraine highly values the Czech Republic’s leadership, in particular the efforts of the government, parliament and Czech society aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities.

Deputy Foreign Minister highlighted the significant contribution of Czech voluntary organisations to supporting the Ukrainian Defense Forces in their efforts to counter the aggressor state, Russia. Olexandr Mischenko gave assurances that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is ready for further dialogue with Czech volunteers regarding humanitarian aid. The sides discussed Ukrainian-Czech cooperation in the field of defense supplies from the Czech Republic, with a view to countering Russian drone attacks, as well as providing Ukraine with further assistance in the energy sector.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the further development of bilateral dialogue between Ukraine and the Czech Republic, particularly at the level of the two countries’ foreign ministries.
