On April 1, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Olexandr Mischenko held a meeting with the delegation from the Toulouse City, led by its Mayor Jean-Luc Moudenc.

At the beginning of the meeting, Olexandr Mischenko expressed gratitude to the French people, in particular, the Toulouse City Council and personally to Mayor Moudenc for the assistance, comprehensive support and solidarity with Ukraine from the first days of the full-scale Russian invasion, and the shelter provided to our citizens who are temporarily residing in France.

The Deputy Minister expressed special thanks to the Toulouse City Council for its support of Kyiv, emphasizing that the partnership between the two cities has a history of half a century. An important symbol of this is the renewal of the Partnership Agreement, concluded 50 years ago, which took place these days.

The parties discussed the importance of strengthening intercity and interregional cooperation, as well as implementing joint cultural and artistic projects. In this regard, several scientific and educational initiatives that are being implemented, in particular between Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and one of the oldest universities in France – the University of Toulouse, were discussed.

Olexandr Mischenko emphasized the importance of projecting a positive image of Ukraine in the context of countering Russian aggression and expressed hope for further strengthening cooperation with the Toulouse City in supporting Ukrainian initiatives aimed at countering disinformation and the Kremlin’s propaganda.

For his part, Jean-Luc Moudenc assured of the commitment of the Toulouse City Mayor’s Office to further develop friendly relations between the cities and communities of the two countries.
