On 1 October, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleхandr Mischenko held a meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Ukraine, Luboš Veselý.
Oleхandr Mischenko expressed gratitude to the Czech side for its political and practical support for our state in the fight against Russian aggression, in particular for the humanitarian and military-technical assistance provided, including within the framework of the Czech ammunition Initiative.
The Deputy Minister emphasised the interest in further developing the strategic partnership between our countries and the importance in this context of the recent high-level contacts, in particular the official visit of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the Czech Republic, the visit of Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala to Ukraine, as well as the exchange of visits by the heads of foreign affairs departments of the two countries.
Olexandr Mischenko emphasised the effectiveness of the format of joint consultations between the governments of Ukraine and the Czech Republic as a mechanism for intergovernmental cooperation, as well as the positive experience of sectoral cooperation between the two countries. In this context, the parties discussed the preparation of bilateral expert meetings within the framework of Ukrainian-Czech interagency cooperation in the field of security, defence and compliance with the sanctions regime.
The Czech Republic's contribution to supporting the «Food from Ukraine» initiative and its active participation in international events organised by our country were noted by Ukrainian diplomat.
Deputy Foreign Minister expressed gratitude to the Czech government and volunteer organisations for their assistance in strengthening Ukraine's defence capabilities, as well as for the humanitarian projects implemented for temporarily displaced Ukrainians.
The parties held separate discussions on expanding the Czech Republic's diplomatic presence in Ukraine and ways to intensify interparliamentary dialogue between the two countries.
In turn, Luboš Veselý confirmed his readiness to promote further development of cooperation between Ukraine and the Czech Republic in areas of mutual interest.
