On December 18 Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Olexandr Mischenko met with Ambassador of Denmark to Ukraine Ole Egberg Mikkelsen.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the schedule of bilateral contacts for the next year and the expectations of the Denish Presidency in a number of international organisations and formats, including the UN Security Council, the Council of the European Union and the Nordic-Baltic Eight.
The interlocutors paid special attention to the implementation of the Peace Formula and the Victory Plan. The Deputy Minister underlined the priority of Ukraine’s an invitation to join NATO as soon as possible as the only guarantee of security for Ukraine and the whole of Europe, as well as Denmark's continued support on this path. He also emphasized the importance of increasing international pressure on Russia and bringing the aggressor country to justice for its crimes in Ukraine.
Olexandr Mischenko thanked Denmark for its systematic and comprehensive assistance since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion and noted Denmark's significant contribution to strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities, stressing that the Danish model is already being followed by our other partner states. According to international think tanks, Denmark currently ranks second in the world in terms of military assistance per GDP.
The Deputy Minister also thanked Denmark for its role in Ukraine’s recovery, in particular its patronage over the reconstruction of Mykolaiv and the region.
Ambassador Ole Egberg Mikkelson, in his turn, assured of Denmark's continued unwavering support for Ukraine at the bilateral level and in multilateral formats and confirmed Denmark’s readiness to continue providing comprehensive political and practical assistance to our country.
