Olexandr Mischenko held a meeting with representatives of the Polish business
13 June 2025 20:04

On 13 June, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Olexandr Mischenko held a meeting with a delegation of Polish business leaders headed by Minister of Economic Development and Technology of the Republic of Poland Krzysztof Paszyk and Polish Government Special plenipotentiary for the Reconstruction of Ukraine, Member of Sejm Paweł Kowal, who are visiting Ukraine.

At the beginning of the meeting, Olexandr Mishchenko and members of the Polish delegation laid flowers at the Wall of Remembrance for those who died for Ukraine and honoured the memory of our country's defenders.

During the negotiations, Olexandr Mischenko expressed his gratitude to the Polish state, business and society for their consistent support of Ukraine and solidarity with our country, their active efforts to support Ukraine's European integration aspirations and for Poland's leadership during its presidency of the EU Council.

The Participants of the meeting focused on issues of European common security and the reconstruction of Ukraine. The Deputy Minister emphasised that Poland, as Ukraine's closest neighbour and partner, can and should be among the leaders of this process.

Olexandr Mischenko noted that an essential stage of the Ukrainian-Polish partnership will be the holding of the Ukraine Reconstruction Conference (URC) in Poland in 2026 and expressed hope for the active participation of Polish government officials and businesses in this year's Conference, which will take place on 10-11 July in Rome. The Polish side confirmed the participation of a high-level delegation in the URC 2025.

The Participants of the meeting discussed the possibilities of forming industry consortiums of Polish companies to participate in large infrastructure projects in Ukraine, launching pilot projects in key sectors such as infrastructure and energy, creating bilateral financing instruments, including support from Polish state agencies, municipalities and European structures.

Olexandr Mischenko emphasised that the implementation of these and other initiatives would contribute to the deepening of Ukrainian-Polish relations and serve the main goal of rebuilding Ukraine. This approach would also bring Ukraine closer to adopting practices compatible with EU norms and values and creating conditions for further European integration of our state.

The Ukrainian diplomat noted the establishment of constructive bilateral dialogue and cooperation on issues of national memory, particularly, the conduct of search and exhumation work on the territory of Ukraine and Poland. According to him, this is an example of how the parties are making mutual efforts to reach a solution that will reflect the interests of both sides - to avoid a negative impact of the difficult moments of our common history to the current development of bilateral relations.

Olexandr Mischenko called on his Polish colleagues to prevent the excessive politicisation of issues related to our shared history and to focus on uniting our mutual efforts to ensure victory over our common enemy – the terrorist state of Russia.
