As a result of the drone strike on the bridge over the Dniester River on the Odesa-Reni highway near the Ukrainian village of Mayaki (Udobnoe) near the Ukrainian-Moldovan border on 18.12.2025, the Border Police of the Republic of Moldova announced temporary restrictions on the crossing of two border checkpoints for security reasons:
The Moldovan side informed about the overloading of the checkpoint “Mohyliv-Podilskyi – Otach” and recommended reorienting passenger transportation and freight traffic to alternative checkpoints on the border with the Republic of Moldova, in particular:
A temporary mobile camp has been set up near the checkpoint “Mayaki-Udobne – Palanka” for the needs of travelers, where it is possible to get food and hot drinks.
In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine recommends that citizens of Ukraine currently refrain from traveling through checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Moldovan border in the Odessa region and use alternative routes on the border with Chernivtsi and Vinnytsia regions.
