On March 17, 2025 First Deputy Foreign Minister Sergiy Kyslytsya held a meeting with the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Arsenio Dominguez.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the сurrent priorities of the IMO activity, urgent issues of ensuring shipping security in the Black Sea and the role of IMO, as well as rendering technical assistance to Ukraine with the aim of ensuring the security of sea transportation in the Black Sea region, in particular delivery of grain.
Sergiy Kyslytsya underlined the significance of the visit of the IMO Secretary General Arsenio Dominguez in view of the opportunity to study the security conditions on spot for the shipping in the Black Sea.
First Deputy Foreign Minister separately expressed his gratitude to the IMO Secretary General for his personal contribution to the release of the crew members of the vessel Galaxy Leader from captivity by the Yemeni Houthis this January, among whom there were three Ukrainian citizens; and stressed the importance of adhering to the provisions of the UN Charter in the IMO activity and implementation of all the decisions of the governing bodies of the Organization, which were adopted in the context of the Russian aggression against Ukraine.
