On April 17, Sergiy Kyslytsya, First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine, attended the event “Diplomacy of Resistance and Resilience: How to Preserve the World Order?”, organised by the Foreign Policy Council “Ukrainian Prism” in cooperation with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Office in Ukraine. The event featured the presentation of the annual analytical study ‘Ukrainian Prism: Foreign Policy 2025’.
In his welcoming remarks on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha, Sergiy Kyslytsya emphasised that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine pays great attention to cooperation with experts and to expert diplomacy.
"It is in Ukraine that the world order is being decided for decades to come. It is Ukraine that is defining a new security architecture in Europe. Together with its allies and partners. Together with all people of good will," said the First Deputy Minister.
He also highlighted the key elements of a just peace for Ukraine: absolutely no compromises on Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, a strong Ukrainian army, the return of all Ukrainian prisoners and kidnapped children, bringing all Russian war criminals to justice, Ukraine's membership in the EU and NATO, and the protection of Ukrainians abroad and the creation of conditions for their return home.
Sergiy Kyslytsya recalled the symbolism of the 17 April date in the history of Ukraine, including the adoption of the Law of Ukraine on the Rehabilitation of Victims of Communist Repressions in 1991 and the anniversary of the 1938 execution of the Crimean Tatar intelligentsia. Discussing the challenges of our time, he noted that the world order established after the Second World War failed to protect Ukraine and was not perfect. At the same time, according to the diplomat, the current international turbulence provides a chance to rethink the established approaches, but within clearly defined ‘red lines’ regarding Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
During the panel discussion, the First Deputy Minister and other participants exchanged views on the strategy of Ukrainian diplomacy, discussed ways to strengthen the international coalition in support of Ukraine, the necessity of adapting international law and institutions to the current realities of Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine, as well as specific steps to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace for Ukraine.
