On December 17-22, Foreign Ministry of Ukraine held an across-the-board online conference "Think Big" for the ambassadors, permanent representatives and consuls-general of our country abroad.
During the traditional plenary sessions, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, and Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov outlined immediate priorities and tasks for the heads of foreign diplomatic missions of Ukraine.
The conference began with a meeting of the Head of State with the Ukrainian diplomatic corps, during which President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy defined main directions of Ukrainian foreign policy and a vision of Ukraine's positions and ambitions in the world. The President of Ukraine stressed that Ukraine’s foreign policy top priority remains the restoration of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders. Taking into account the realities of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the ambassadors of Ukraine abroad were also instructed to work actively on obtaining high-quality and safe vaccines against the coronavirus, in order to ensure the soonest beginning of vaccination of our citizens.
During the conference, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmyhal paid special attention to the promotion of Ukrainian exports and involvement of foreign investments. The Prime Minister accentuated the importance of coordinating efforts to help Ukrainian producers and exporters in entering foreign markets, promote Ukrainian value-added goods and attract foreign investors to take part in privatization process in Ukraine.
During the parliamentary session, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov positively assessed the role of parliamentary diplomacy in promoting Ukraine's foreign policy priorities and defined priority tasks for the heads of foreign diplomatic missions of Ukraine in the parliamentary dimension.
A guest of honour at this year's conference was Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu, who took the conference floor to address the heads of foreign diplomatic missions of Ukraine. Besides, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, addressed the conference with a special video message.
Summing up the conference, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba stressed that Ukrainian diplomatic service’s main task is to promote internal transformations and self-improvement, which will contribute to the implementation of Ukraine's foreign policy priorities and improve the quality of services for Ukrainian citizens abroad.
Think big is not only the motto of this year's conference, but a guide for the nearest future on how to be better and more efficient for tomorrow "said the Foreign Minister of Ukraine.
