"Ukraine can further rely on Germany’s support of its territorial integrity and sovereignty," said German Ambassador to Ukraine Anka Feldhusen during a meeting with First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova.
Emine Dzhaparova briefed the Ambassador on the situation in the temporarily occupied Crimea. She stressed that the international community should focus its attention not only on humanitarian situation on the peninsula but also on opposing its militarization by Russia that threatens security in the region and in Europe as a whole.
Another important area of cooperation should be the counteraction to Russia's hybrid war, within which propaganda activities are being carried out. In this regard, Emine Dzhaparova condemned the trips of European politicians, including representative of Germany Gunnar Lindemann, to the occupied Crimea to "monitor" the so-called referendum to amend the constitution of the Russian Federation and requested official reaction on this visit.
In response, the Ambassador stressed that the German position on supporting the territorial integrity of Ukraine remains unchanged. Germany does not recognize or cooperate with the occupying authorities on the peninsula and supports international sanctions against Russia following its occupation of Crimea.
They agreed to strengthen cooperation at the state and non-governmental levels in order to increase international attention to the policy of non-recognition of the occupation of Crimea.
Emine Dzhaparova expressed hope that the "Ukrainian issue" would be the focus of Germany's presidency of the UN Security Council and the EU Council, including with a view to disseminate information about the occupation of Crimea around the world.
The First Deputy Minister stressed the importance of resuming the practice of regular consultations at the inter-ministerial and expert levels and taking them to the highest level.
Emine Dzhaparova thanked the German side for significant financial and technical assistance. In her turn, Ambassador Feldhusen noted that Germany would continue supporting Ukraine in implementing reforms, which is a guarantee of effective development of our country and attracting foreign investment.
