The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) announced the successful implementation of USAID assistance designed to protect MFA’s digital assets and communication networks in an increasingly complex cyberspace.
USAID has provided cybersecurity support and computing infrastructure equipment and services for Ukraine’s MFA since 2022 through its Cybersecurity for Critical Infrastructure in Ukraine Activity. This assistance upgraded the Ministry's IT infrastructure, fortifying the cyber resilience of Ukraine’s diplomatic service.
Julie Koenen, USAID Mission Director in Ukraine, said "USAID is committed to strengthening the cybersecurity of Ukraine’s critical infrastructure, including complex solutions that support key institutions like the MFA, to ensure that essential government functions such as diplomacy can continue."
Deputy Foreign Minister Anton Demokhin emphasized the strategic value of the support: "USAID has been an important partner in modernising network core and cybersecurity infrastructure of the MFA, laying a solid foundation for further development of the digital ecosystem of the Ministry and enabling secure digitalisation of consular services for the citizens of Ukraine."
The collaboration between USAID and the MFA continues to evolve, with future opportunities being explored, aimed at advancing the digital resilience of Ukrainian diplomacy.
