Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vasyl Bodnar met with Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Ukraine Ruslan Bolbocean. The parties discussed the state of implementation of the agreements achieved during the official visit of President of Moldova Maia Sandu to Ukraine last January.
The diplomats paid attention to the preparation of bilateral consultations between Ukraine and Moldova at the ministerial level on the topical issues of bilateral cooperation.
In particular, they discussed the matter of updating the current free trade agreement, preparing the next meeting of the Commission on sustainable use and protection of the Dniester River.
The interlocutors as well discussed the ways to speed up the work on the intergovernmental draft agreement on the construction of a bridge over the Dniester River on the Ukrainian-Moldovan state border near villages Yampil-Koseuts.
The Deputy Minister briefed the Ambassador on the security situation in the east of our country, in particular, within the context of Russia's deployment of troops and military equipment along Ukraine’s border and in Crimea.
The sides also touched upon the situation around former Ukrainian judge Mykola Chaus. They underlined the necessity to establish as soon as possible a joint working group, as both countries’ foreign ministers have agreed it in early April.
"We are convinced that forces trying to quarrel our two countries are trying to use this situation to their advantage, as well as to disrupt the reset of relations announced in January by the presidents of Ukraine and Moldova,"- said the Ukrainian diplomat.
