On July 31, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis held phone talks with the newly appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of the United Kingdom, Lord Wood.

Yevhen Perebyinis congratulated his British interlocutor on the appointment and thanked the United Kingdom for its unwavering and comprehensive support for Ukraine, including military, financial, energy, and humanitarian assistance, the volume of which has reached 21.8 billion pounds since the start of the full-scale invasion.

The Deputy Minister noted the high dynamics of the political dialogue between Ukraine and the United Kingdom. In this context, he emphasized the importance of the results of the recent visit of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the United Kingdom for further deepening the strategic partnership between the two states. The parties also discussed the activities of the bilateral Strategic Partnership Dialogue.

The main focus of the conversation was on strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities. Yevhen Perebyinis emphasized the critical need for our state to strengthen its air and missile defense systems. He particularly noted the leadership role of the United Kingdom in launching the Integrated Anti-Ballistic Missile Coalition and emphasized the importance of developing joint programs in the field of research, production, and implementation of modern missile defense technologies.

The interlocutors also discussed Ukraine's energy stability ahead of the autumn-winter period. In particular – funding mobilization to restore and protect Ukraine's critical energy infrastructure, as well as creating sources for energy reserves.

The parties paid special attention to the need to further strengthen sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation in the areas of the "shadow fleet", the military-industrial complex, financial networks, as well as the oil and gas industry.

For his part, Lord Wood expressed condolences over the recent Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities and reaffirmed the new British government's continued support for Ukraine in repelling Russia's armed aggression.
