On April 23, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis held a meeting with a representative delegation from the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Riksdag (the Parliament of Sweden), led by the Committee Chair Aron Emilsson.
Yevhen Perebyinis expressed his gratitude to the Swedish Parliament for the steady cross-party consensus regarding support for Ukraine, which ensures the provision of essential military and humanitarian assistance to our country. Sweden remains one of the leading donors of aid, and support for Ukraine has been designated as a priority for Swedish foreign policy for 2026.
The parties discussed prospects for further deepening bilateral relations, including plans for Sweden’s involvement in the reconstruction of Ukraine and the strengthening of regional security. The sides focused particular attention on defense assistance.
Key elements of the discussion included: Ukraine's integration into the EU, coordination of joint efforts toward the restoration of justice and holding the aggressor accountable and the intensification of sanctions pressure. Additionally, the effectiveness of Sweden's actions to restrict the illegal activities of the Russian "shadow fleet" in the Baltic Sea was specifically highlighted.
