On December 4, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis held a meeting with the delegation of the EU, headed by Deputy Secretary General for Common Security and Defense Policy and Crisis Response of the European External Action Service Charles Friese.
During the meeting, the parties discussed practical steps and interaction in implementing the Peace Formula of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the prospects of military assistance which will be provided to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the EU's sanctions policy against Russia.
Yevhen Perebyinis expressed gratitude to the European Union for the assistance provided to Ukraine at the time of countering full-scale Russian military aggression, in particular in the political, military, financial and humanitarian spheres, and emphasized the importance of further increasing military assistance of the EU and its member states.
The Deputy Minister also emphasized that Ukraine highly appreciates the consolidated position of the political leadership of the EU and its member states regarding the continuation of comprehensive support, including military assistance.
Parties discussed in detail the consistent sanctions policy of the EU against Russia due to its aggression against Ukraine. Yevhen Perebyinis noted that Ukraine expects the 12th package of sanctions to be adopted by the Council of the EU as soon as possible and looks for increasing sanctions pressure on sectors of special economic importance for Russia.
For their part, the members of the EU delegation assured of the European Union’s unwavering support of our country until its victory over the Russian aggressor.
Both sides expressed hope for positive for Ukraine decisions of the European Council in December 2023, taking into account the fulfillment by Ukraine the recommendations of the European Commission, which are necessary for the start of accession negotiations.
