On December 5, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis held a meeting with Norwegian State Secretary for European Policy Maria Varteressian.
The Deputy Minister briefed on the current situation on the frontline, the results of the recent visit of the EU delegation led by President of the European Council Antonio Costa to Ukraine, as well as the implementation of the Peace Formula and the Victory Plan.
Yevhen Perebyinis thanked Norway for its unconditional support for Ukraine and its comprehensive assistance in the fight against Russian aggression. In this regard, he noted Norway's recent decision to increase its long-term support for Ukraine.
The interlocutors paid priority attention to the issue of cooperation with the European Union. The Deputy Minister informed about the progress and further steps in the negotiation process on Ukraine's accession to the EU.
In turn, the State Secretary stressed that Norway supports Ukraine's European integration and is ready to provide the necessary support on this path.
Yevhen Perebyinis also stressed the importance of the active support for Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic aspirations, noting that the invitation to our country to join NATO is a reliable security guarantee for both for Ukraine and for Europe as a whole.
The discussion also focused on Ukraine's priority needs, particularly in the light of Russia's constant attacks on our country's energy infrastructure. The parties agreed on the importance of further strengthening sanctions pressure on Russia and preventing it from circumventing the existing restrictions.
