On January 18, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis held a working meeting with the Minister for European Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia Orhan Murtezani.
During the discussions, the parties outlined key areas of bilateral cooperation, emphasized shared European integration priorities, and reaffirmed their commitment to the policy of EU enlargement. It was agreed to strengthen cooperation between EU candidate countries to accelerate the integration processes.
“We highly appreciate the support of North Macedonia, including its full alignment with the EU’s common foreign and security policy regarding countering Russia’s aggression against Ukraine,” emphasized Yevhen Perebyinis.
Special attention was devoted to the issue of defence support. The Deputy Minister expressed gratitude for North Macedonia’s significant contribution to strengthening Ukraine’s defence capabilities since 2022. The parties stressed the importance of expediting the delivery of the next package of military-technical assistance.
The parties underscored NATO's crucial role in ensuring long-term regional security and preventing further aggression by Russia. The Ukrainian side called on partners from North Macedonia to intensify advocacy among NATO allies regarding Ukraine’s invitation to join the Alliance.
