On March 17, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis met with the Honorary President of the Pan-European Union of Austria and Head of the House of Habsburg, Karl von Habsburg.
During the meeting, the focus was on issues related to Ukraine’s accession to full membership in the European Union and the coordination of efforts with the Pan-European Union of Austria in this important area.
The interlocutors also emphasized the need to increase sanctions pressure on Russia by introducing new restrictions in key sectors of the economy and preventing the circumvention of existing sanctions. The Deputy Minister underlined the importance of the swift adoption of the next EU sanctions package, as well as the introduction of additional restrictions against Russia’s “shadow fleet.”
Yevhen Perebyinis expressed gratitude to Karl von Habsburg for his consistent and principled support for Ukraine and his significant contribution to strengthening the cultural resilience of the country. In particular, his support for independent Ukrainian media was highlighted as an important element in preserving the national information space of Ukrainians abroad.
In turn, Karl von Habsburg assured that he would continue to support Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and expressed readiness for further comprehensive cooperation.
