On 5 February 2026, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yevhen Perebyinis, together with Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna, visited Zhytomyr region, where they inaugurated a series of social infrastructure facilities built with financial support from Estonia.

As a result, children and staff of the “Sunny Home” Social and Psychological Rehabilitation Center in Zhytomyr received a new, modern, fully equipped multifunctional shelter capable of accommodating up to 50 children simultaneously, while 36 families displaced from frontline regions of Ukraine were provided with new housing in a renovated building in Ovruch, Zhytomyr region.

Speaking at the opening, Y. Perebyinis thanked Estonia for its support:
"You are helping precisely where daily care for children and families is especially important. This is a case where partnership is measured by real actions."

The Deputy Minister also expressed his gratitude to local communities, social service staff, builders, engineers, and all those involved in implementing these initiatives.

"These projects demonstrate that, despite the war, Ukraine is being rebuilt today, and the support of partners is translated into concrete solutions that give Ukrainians hope for the future," he added.

Both projects were implemented in close cooperation with the Estonian Centre for International Development – EstDev.
