Yevhen Perebyinis took part in an off-site meeting of the Temporary Special Commission of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine

On December 14, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis took part in an off-site meeting of the Temporary Special Commission of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to prepare issues on strengthening social protection of citizens affected by the Chernobyl disaster and on the use of the territory that was subjected to radioactive contamination as a result of the Chernobyl accident.

He also joined the events to honor the memory of the liquidators of the consequences of the disaster, which were attended by the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniyenko, the Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko, the Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine Denys Ulyutin, the Chairman of the Temporary Special Commission of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on strengthening social protection of citizens affected by the Chernobyl disaster and on the use of the territory that was subjected to radioactive contamination Arseniy Pushkarenko, invited liquidators, and deputies of the Verkhovna Rada.

In his speech at the commission meeting, Yevhen Perebyinis emphasized the importance of state coordination of events within the framework of the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster and informed about the key areas of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' work in this context.

The Deputy Minister recalled that on December 10, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution initiated by Ukraine on strengthening international cooperation in overcoming the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster. The resolution confirms the belonging of the Chernobyl NPP to Ukraine, establishes the correct Ukrainian transliteration of Chornobyl and contains references to threats to the security of the plant's facilities as a result of Russian attacks.

According to the Deputy Minister, the priorities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs include international work within the framework of the UN, the Council of Europe, and the OSCE, further assistance in attracting foreign funding for the restoration and safety of the Chernobyl NPP facilities, as well as the implementation of public diplomacy activities related to the Chernobyl accident in 2026.

Yevhen Perebyinis also confirmed the readiness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to implement the provisions of the Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on honoring the participants in the liquidation of the Chernobyl NPP accident and to further interact with other state authorities in order to honor the memory of the liquidators and strengthen international support for Ukraine.
