On May 16, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis held a meeting with the delegation of Swedish Riksdag Foreign Affairs Committee led by its Chairman, Aron Emilsson.
Yevhen Perebyinis expressed gratitude to Sweden for its comprehensive support of Ukraine in countering Russian armed aggression, such as providing our country with solid defense assistance such as weapons and military equipment.
The parties discussed the need to increase sanctions pressure on Russia, the prospects of bringing Russian war criminals to justice and also Sweden's participation in implementing President Volodymyr Zelensky's Peace Formula.
Yevhen Perebyinis informed his interlocutors about the state of Ukraine's implementation of seven European Commission recommendations and expressed the hope that Sweden would support Ukraine's start of pre-accession negotiations with the EU this year. Both sides expressed their readiness to cooperate actively during Sweden`s EU Presidency.
The parties also exchanged views on developing the bilateral political dialogue between the two countries, particularly at the parliamentary level, which has recently shown a tendency towards significant intensification.
