On July 7, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis held a meeting with EU Special Envoy for Sanctions David O'Sullivan.

Yevhen Perebyinis expressed his gratitude to the EU for its consistent and unwavering sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation in response to Russian aggression against Ukraine and the occupation of part of our country’s territory.

The Deputy Minister further emphasized the importance of synchronized joint efforts aimed at strengthening restrictive measures against the aggressor state. As part of the preparations for the 21st and 22nd EU sanctions packages, the sides discussed the priority areas for the application of sanctions. Special attention was paid to the importance of introducing an EU entry ban on Russian military personnel who took part in Russia’s war against Ukraine.

The parties exchanged views on possible ways to counter the circumvention of sanctions and the supply of Western components to the Russian defence industry. Both sides also touched upon the coordination of future measures with international partners against the Russian Federation’s shadow fleet, particularly in light of the precedent set by the vessel Caffa, which was arrested by Sweden at the request of the Ukrainian prosecutor`s office for international legal assistance.

In turn, David O’Sullivan reaffirmed the EU’s unwavering support for Ukraine and emphasized his readiness to continue working closely within the framework of coordinated sanctions pressure on Russia.
