On February 9, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinys held a video conversation with Secretary General for Foreign Affairs in the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of Austria Peter Launsky-Tieffenthal.
Yevhen Perebyinis expressed gratitude for Austria’s support of our state, for provided temporary shelter to Ukrainian displaced persons, humanitarian aid, as well as the implementation of a number of important reconstruction projects in the de-occupied cities of Ukraine.
The interlocutors coordinated further steps to implement the agreements of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Federal President of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen, reached during his visit to Ukraine on February 1.
Particular attention was paid to Austria's participation in the implementation of the Peace Formula initiated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as well as to the issue of further sanctions pressure on Russia, directing frozen Russian assets to the reconstruction of Ukraine.
Deputy Foreign Minister raised the issue of issuing national visas by Austria for the Russian delegation to the OSCE PA, as well as banning Russian and Belarusian athletes’ participation in international competitions as long as Russia continues its war of aggression against Ukraine.
For his part, Peter Launsky-Tiffenthal confirmed Vienna's readiness to continue providing the necessary humanitarian aid to our country, including for the reconstruction of the energy infrastructure, as well as its intention to contribute to the process of preparation for negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU.
Yevhen Perebyinis also emphasized the importance of conducting a thorough investigation and ensuring accountability for the case of the illegal displacement of the Ukrainian children evacuated to Austria to the territory of the Russian Federation, stressing that the Human Rights Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Lubinets is keeping this issue under control.
