On March 15, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevheniy Yenin met with Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Ukraine Nguyen Hong Thach.
The Deputy Minister stressed our state’s eagerness to further develop Ukrainian-Vietnamese relations and strengthen cooperation within international organizations.
The parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in intensifying political dialogue of the highest and high level, as well as cooperation in the field of trade, in particular the implementation of the agreements reached at the 15th meeting of the Ukrainian-Vietnamese Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation.
In this context, the diplomats paid special attention to the plan of bilateral events for 2021.
Yevheniy Yenin also noted Ukraine's special interest in building effective cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
For reference: In 2020, the volume of bilateral turnover amounted to 653.1 million USD (growth by 21% to 2019): exports - 192.1 million USD (growth by 84.78% mainly due to increase in crops compared to 2019), imports - 461.0 million USD (growth by 6.7% to 2019). Negative balance in 2020 - 268.9 million USD.
On January 25, 2021, in videoconference format the 15th meeting of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Vietnamese Commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation was held.
